But just what then is a patriphobic?!

August 21, 2008

There would appear to be two types of patriphobia in the world.
  1. Those who actively and systematically target fathers and fatherhood either violently, verbally or by marginalisation and exclusion, criminilisation, discrimination and medicalisation.

  2. Those who oppose fathers and fatherhood on the grounds of feminist, matriarchal or gay supremacist- or victimideology, but say they are not as such fatherhaters or fatherhoodhaters: They only want fathers and fatherhood submitted and instrumentally changed into something else more suited to their own needs and demands like “new fathers” and/or “new fatherhood”.

Patriphobia, the word just occurred to me so I searched on it and found this blog.

Progressives/Feminists are certainly Patriphobes. I call it an unreasonably fear of Patriarchy, and they really do fear it, as opposed to the utterly insulting term “homophobe” that paints those who oppose the promotion of homosexuality as cowering, ignorant throwbacks to a dark age.

    Hi Larry,

I would call it somewhat differently the unreasonable fear of gender equality and of fathers being equal parents and fatherhood as equal parenthood in shared parenting, coming from the present need to dominate and deny fathers equality in the parenting of our children. It is the ideology of matriarchy and it is about gender racism. It also is the modern version of penus envy.
